Non-heat-treatable Die Welding Materials
 


The Polyhard® and Polytensile® 800 Series
 


Polyhard® 840 (AC/DC) - A chrome/nickel/moly alloy with an exceptionally tough, work-hardening weld deposit. Polyhard® 840 resists heat, galling, deformation, chipping, metal-to-metal friction and pick-up. Applications include the overlay of forging-die flash lines, clutch dogs and draw dies for steel.

Polyhard® 845 (AC/DC) - A non-magnetic alloy containing chromium, nickel, molybdenum and tungsten that provides an even harder surface than 840.

Polyhard® 850 (AC/DC) - A companion product to numbers 840 and 845. It will work harden under sever impact, making it the toughest of the three alloys. Hardness is not affected by temperatures up to 1,250 Deg. F.

Polytensile® 880 (AC/DC) - A "Universal" super-strength chrome/nickel alloy. Welds are dense, crack-desensitized and resistant to heat and corrosion. High yield strength, excellent ductility and elongaton. Used to join carbon, stainless, spring, manganese, tool and die steels and numerous dissimilar alloys.

Polytensile® 880-C - An economical composite electrode using a low-alloy core wire. Weld-deposit chemistry is similar to that of 880.

Polytensile® 881 (AC/DC) - Similar to Polytensile? 880 but manufactured by the composite process using a stainless steel alloy core wire with a slightly thicker coating than 880.

Polytensile® 887 (AC/DC) - The most crack-resistant alloy for welding steels with very poor weldability. The tough weld metal is able to absorb high welding stresses, particularly when welding hardenable steel and other rigid structures.

Polytensile® 888 (AC/DC) - Its unique composition of super-strength chrome/nickel will respond to almost all tool-steel heat treatments and retain its superior mechanical properties. Deposits are dense, non-porous, smooth, crack-desensitized and resistant to corrosion and heat-scaling up to 1,200 Deg. F. Uses include the joining and repair of cracked or fractured tools, dies and fixtures. Also for anti-frictional surfaces on valves, bearings and shafts.

Polytensile® 8800 - A superior high-tensile chrome/nickel/moly alloy that resists corrosion and heat. It produces strong, non-porous welds with a soft, smooth arc and spatter-free performance.
